Hired from here over Christmas with Economy Rentals. Was told I would have 141 to pay at desk. Got there and needed to add on another 100 for extra insurance even though I purchased full insurance. I also had to pay a 250 deposit.... which still hasn't been returned to me. If you hire, beware extra additional costs and check your deposits. I ended up walking away having to pay over 400 to get the car....
Criminals. They should be banned or put on watchdog. My husbands grandparents had booked a car from them and paid up front for the 8 days they are in England. They were to pick up their car at Southend airport after arriving from Spain. When they got to the counter they were told that despite them having paid in full, because they were late, that their car had been given away, but that they could pay 180 to upgrade. They are in their 70s, visiting their children and grandchildren over Christmas and couldnt afford that! The assistants and manager were rude and obnoxious and offered no apology. One assistant even threatened not to refund when they stated that it was their duty to provide an alternative car free of extra charge. Angry and upset they called my husband on boxing day, who, as a result, missed our families Christmas gathering so he could pick them up from the airport. Totally disgusted at this. Once paid for it should be illegal to give goods to someone else. Please please dont hire from here.
Wow amazing - I am a privilege elite vip member of europcar and cant get my booked vehicle one hour earlier to my booking at the same rate. This is either down to highly trained staff or europcar really cares about their customers. Amazed waiting at a coffee shop at Southend airport.
Very, very, VERY poor!I have just tried to hire a car from Europcar at Southend Airport but because I dont physically have my driving license with me, I was refused.My driving license is with the DVLA for renewal and I know my DL number, I am also in possession of my passport but still I was refused. The boy behind the counter advised me that its Europcar policy. It isnt! I have just spoken to Europcar and they explained that many branches do allow hire via the means available to me but, ultimately, the branch has the final say. I have now had to spend money on a hotel for the evening as Ive no other means of getting home by any decent hour.Within the past month, I have successfully hired cars from Enterprise and Avis and I cant recommend their services highly enough! Europcar will never see my business again.
Great and helpful staff! I hired twice within few days with them, taking advantage of the 1 Pound OneWay Hire offer they have. The lady at Southend Airport was very nice and let me know the road tolls applying in UK and also suggested me to take full insurance coverage. I payed in total 26 pounds for 500 miles limit. The cars offered are trustful and I had no problem with them. The fuel policy is full to full and in overall the deal was more than fair. I recommend them!
