Sunny day and a nice walk to the end of the pier for a treat in the way of an ice cream what's not to like
Nice relaxing train ride to the end of the pier. Not much to do down there tho so we ended up walking back as train was a 20 min wait. It was a lovely walk though in the nice weather we had that day at least.
I love Southend pier! Its very nice and I heard its like a mile long! If you take your kids there, also pop into Adventure Island a small amusement park for kids!
It's a small museum but offers a lot of history. Plus you get to walk along the world's longest pier and grab some exercise and fresh air. You can take the pier train but I suggest walking to bash out a few calories and make Britain healthier. That's why it gets top star rating as now you can make the most of the trip to the museum. 2 to walk the pier, that's a small 1 per 1.3 miles of walking. You can even walk it twice and boost your endorphins and feel smug about doing something positive. Walk the pier, visit the museum, grab some history, be amazed and some of the heroics, get some fresh sea air break into the recommended 150 minutes exercise per week.
It was an enchanting experience. Described as the longest pier in the world, walking down it is an uncomfortable experience, if you are afraid of heights, don't look down. The train goes down the track appearing to be in water in pictures. Beautiful!! By the way Jamie Oliver owns a cafe at the end of this lovely pier.
