It's a commuter train station. You can get off a train here. You can get on one. The men's toilet was not particularly clean.
Good walk with the dogs
Station is very well connected, if you walk up the hill to your right you are in Leigh-on-sea Town, full of shops, and restaurants. If you leave the station and take left you go towards the park. If you leave the station and walk direct along the coast you will find nice bars, pub, fish market and a great foot path to walk. Lovely in a sunny day!
As a fairly recent visitor, there's one thing I have to tell you about Leigh-on-Sea: it isn't Southend. There's a working harbour, a proper fishing industry and an enjoyable (if steep) walk between old and new towns. Having recently dislocated my knee, I was sore at the top of the hill. Lots of pubs, fish and chips and excellent fishmongers down below. Even more pubs and eateries up the hill. We went to Mariner's Court, a reasonably priced pub on the High Street. Sunday lunch and two drinks for two was a smidgen over 36. Leigh is a fine day trip from London with frequent C2C trains from Liverpool Street.
Only station in the area that has a lift, so handy if you have luggage or a buggy, as there are a lot of stairs to get from platform to street. Plenty of parking if you're picking up or dropping someone off. Good, fast, service into London.
